Welcome students and parents of Div 6-6

I believe that communication between home and school is important for the success of students. Therefore, I am going to begin a blog for our class. This will be a space where my students and their parents can come to ask questions, find out information and support one another. It will be developed based upon the needs of our own special community. Let us know how it can support you by posting a comment here, and, as a class, we'll see what we can do. I expect that students and parents will drive the posts, based upon their needs and interests. In fact, it may likely be a place where students ask questions about homework and other students respond to the questions. I have a website at the following link where you can find out more about me as the teacher. Currently, I have a fairly well established class website I prepared last year at . The links are in English but some good links to learning, just the same.
I will also be developing, throughout the year,a website just for the class at which will have links to support learning in French Immersion. I just need some time to pull it together! If you know of some good sites for learning in French, pass them along here to share.
So, I envision this blog spot being used to ask a question of fellow classmates about an assignment, even getting feedback on how they are getting started, and different students posting the homework for the day, as a back up to the agenda. Students might want to post a blog about a book that they are reading to let classmates know what they think about it. Another possibility is a topic of interest in Social Studies or Science that peeks a student's interest enough that they want to comment about it here or link to an article that supports their point of view. For example, views on climate change and how people can do their part. Writing for a purpose and to share one's views-that is meaningful and powerful.
Of course, just like any aspect of our public schools, safety AND learning are always at the top of importance. This should be considered a public space. Only appropriate language and content will be allowed. If in doubt, leave it out. We will also discuss in the classroom the appropriate use of the internet for learning and safety. We will proceed slowly and carefully. Posts by students should be written in French and in English if it for parents/all. Please contact me should you have any questions.
